ST. AUGUSTINE –
Nick Grier came off the bench to score a game-high 25 points on 11 of 16 shooting from the field to help Flagler College snap a seven-game losing streak and defeat Florida College 92-74 in a non-conference men's basketball game Monday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 7-16 on the season while Florida College had its four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 11-11.
The Saints used a 20-6 run midway through the first half to take a 33-19 lead.
Matt Clark started the run by sinking in of Flagler's 10 three-pointers on the night. Grier capped the run with a trey with 9:32 left in the half.
Flagler took a sizable 52-30 lead into the half.
The Saints shot a blistering 55.6% (20-36) from the field in the opening half.
Flagler's lead swelled to as many as 24 in the second half.
Vaughn McCall added 23 points and three steals. He sank four 3-pointers.
Jeffercy Jean recorded his first collegiate double-double with 15 points and he grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds. Clark also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Ben Bobbitt had a season-high 10 assists. The Saints tied their season-high for assists in a game with 22.
Flagler's 50% (34-68) shooting night was the team's best since Jan. 12 when it shot 53.7% against Georgia Southwestern State University, which was the last Flagler win before tonight.
McMichael Jamison led the Falcons with 17 points. Anthony Allen added 16 points and nine rebounds while Dustin Dunham chipped in with 11 points. Jordan Benjamin provided 13 points and eight rebounds in a reserve role.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday (Feb. 10) against Augusta University at 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
