ST. AUGUSTINE –
Megan Hooks recorded a match-high 15 kills and hit .333 to help Flagler College earn a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) sweep of Armstrong State University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Wednesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler won its fourth match in a row and improved to 15-6 overall and 11-2 in the Peach Belt. Flagler also moved into a tie for first place in the conference standings with the University of South Carolina Aiken. Armstrong State fell to 17-6 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
Hooks only had four errors on 33 swings.
Sara Davis added nine kills while
Genel Sturgeon added eight kills and six digs.
Tara Savisky tallied 35 assists and gathered nine digs.
Kayla Norelli collected a match-high 20 digs.
Ashley Cheewah recorded five total blocks.
Raegan Grooms led the Pirates with 13 kills and she added eight digs. Raquel Kulak tacked on nine kills and had two solo blocks. Carley Eiken tallied 30 assists while Iva Scepanovic collected 15 digs.
Armstrong was held to a .134 hitting percentage with 37 kills and 20 errors on 127 swings. The Pirates also had 10 service errors.
Flagler won both matches of the regular season against Armstrong. The last time that happened was 2010.
The Saints will hit the road for the final time in the regular season this weekend. Flagler is at Georgia College on Friday (Nov. 4) at 7 p.m. The Bobcats defeated the Saints in St. Augustine, 3-2, earlier this season.
