ST. AUGUSTINE – Junior outside hitter Megan Hooks racked up a match-high 13 kills, more than half (7) coming in the first set alone, to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-17) sweep of Converse College in a match in the Flagler Volleyball Invitational Friday night at Flagler Gym.

Flagler evens its overall record at 1-1 while Converse dropped its season opener.

Hooks hit a career-best .480 with just one error on 25 swings. Taja Valmyr added nine kills while Sara Davis tacked on six more. Tara Savisky recorded the first double-double of the season for Flagler as she tallied 31 assists to go along with 11 digs. Jenea Reddick and Jailene Torres-Lopez each recorded three total blocks.

Flagler hit .427 as a team with 38 kills and six errors on 75 swings.

Three different Valkyries recorded three kills. Krislyn Moore tallied 11 assists and Madeline Pate collected nine digs.

Converse was held to a -.133 hitting percentage.

Other scores from the tournament: Florida Tech 3, Dominican 0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-13) and Anderson 3, Dominican 0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-15).

Flagler concludes the tournament tomorrow (Sept. 5) with a pair of matches. The first starts at noon against Dominican College of New York and then will close the day against Florida Tech at 7 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
