ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College used a balanced offensive attack with four players recording double figure kills in a 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-14) win over Colorado Christian University in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extends its winning streak to seven matches and improved to 7-1 overall. Colorado Christian, an NCAA Division II school, fell to 5-5.
Sara Davis,
Megan Hooks and
Taja Valmyr all recorded 14 kills for the Saints. Davis finished with a .542 hitting percentage with one error on 24 swings. Hooks added five total blocks.
Shea Hamilton recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Caitlyn Kovach paced the defense with 14 digs and had three service aces.
Jailene Torres-Lopez collected four total blocks.
Tara Savisky tallied a match-high 52 assists.
Ashley Lechleidner-Rodriguez gathered 11 digs.
Flagler hit .293 for the match which included a .341 mark in the first set alone.
Taylor Sturms recorded a match-high 18 kills and added 11 digs for the Cougars. Kaylee Pierce added 11 kills. Joelle LeFevre collected a match-high 20 digs while Jordan Carswell tallied 26 assists.
The match featured 19 ties and seven lead changes.
After three closely contested sets, Flagler came out and dominated the fourth set. The Saints held the Cougars to a -.024 hitting percentage while Flagler hit at a .303 clip. Valmyr recorded five kills while Hamilton added four more to pace the Saints. Hooks recorded four total blocks.
Flagler hits the road on Saturday (Sept. 19) when it travels to Fort Lauderdale to take on Nova Southeastern University for a 6 p.m. match.
