ANDERSON, S.C. – Flagler College won a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at a tri-match hosted by Anderson University at its Abney Center. The Saints swept Catawba College 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-15) and then took Anderson 3-2 (25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-9) to close out the day.

"Sara and Megan both had a great game," said Flagler head coach Matt Affolder. "We served effectively today. This was a great region win for us."

The second match featured 23 ties and 14 lead changes. In the fourth set alone, there were 12 ties and seven lead changes.

"It was great to see the team fight and not back down as the match went to the fifth set," said Affolder. "They stayed together and continued to battle in a back-and-forth match."

Davis recorded a season-high 18 kills and hit a blistering .410 with two errors on 39 swings. She added four block assists to her line. Hooks contributed 16 kills while Hamilton recorded her second double-double in as many days with 13 kills and 18 digs. Kovach added a season-high 25 digs and served up three aces. Savisky tallied a season-high 57 assists and tacked on 21 digs for her second double-double of the year.

The Saints recorded 104 digs, the most the team has had in a match since last October 10 vs. Lander (114), a span of 19 matches.

In the fourth set, Flagler fought off two set points which tied the score at 24-all. But a pair of attack errors forced the deciding fifth set.

In the fifth set, the Saints ran off four consecutive points to wipe out a one-point deficit (8-7) and took command. Jenea Reddick's kill tied the score and then Davis added another to push the Saints over the top. Then both Reddick and Davis combined on a block of Tinsley Hallman to give Flagler a 10-8 lead. Kovach ended the run with an ace and the Saints went on to take the set, 15-9.

"We played a lot of people today and went through some different line-up adjustments," said Affolder. "Our players came through when they were called upon."

Hallman led the Trojans with 14 kills and completed the double-double with 15 digs. Emily Conard collected a match-high 30 digs while Priscilla Irizarry recorded a double-double with 38 assists and 11 digs.
