DUE WEST, S.C. – Freshman outside hitter
Shea Hamilton turned in another fine performance as she recorded a match-high 13 kills and collected a team-best 14 digs for her first career double-double to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-20) sweep of Erskine College in a non-conference volleyball match Friday night at Belk Arena.
Flagler extended its winning streak to four matches and improved to 4-1. Erskine fell to 2-4.
"The back row defense played outstanding tonight," said
Matt Affolder, Flagler's head coach. "We played physical and aggressive tonight. It was a great team effort."
Hamilton finished the night with a .429 hitting percentage as she had just one error on 28 swings. Hamilton added two solo blocks.
Megan Hooks came off the bench to provide 12 kills and six total blocks.
Sara Davis added six kills and five total blocks.
Caitlyn Kovach and
Payten Pillsbury tallied 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
Tara Savisky tallied 34 assists.
"Caitlyn, Ashley (Lechleidner-Rodriguez), Peyton and Shea anchored the defense tonight," added Affolder. "Shea had a big-time match tonight."
Kelly Sullivan led the Flying Fleet with 12 kills. Kristen Dodge recorded a double-double with 24 assists and 11 digs. Kendall Kirk collected a match-high 19 digs.
Flagler heads to Anderson, South Carolina for a tri-match tomorrow (Sept. 12). Flagler opens against Catawba College at 2:30 p.m. and will follow against the host school, Anderson University, at around 5:30 p.m.
