SALISBURY, N.C. –
Katie Kaim picked the right time and place to score her first goal (108') since 2012 as she beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation to send Flagler College to a 2-1 double-overtime win over Catawba College in a non-conference women's soccer match Friday night at Frock Field.
Flagler improved to 1-0-1 while Catawba drops to 1-2-0 overall. Both of Flagler's matches have gone into a second overtime session.
A Catawba player turned the ball over just outside of the 18-yard box and Kaim took the ball, made a move on another Catawba player to get into the one-on-one with the keeper and buried the shot into the back right side.
The Saints trailed 1-0 at the half after an Emily Davis goal in the 35
th minute.
Alison Bondy scored the equalizer (66'), her first career goal, as she knocked in her initial shot that was saved by Bethany Davis.
Racheal Cecil tallied two saves for Flagler while Davis saved 14 after replacing Angelica Pawlowski who only played the first half.
Flagler peppered the goal for 24 shots, 17 on goal, while Catawba had seven shots. The Saints held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler takes on Pfeiffer University on Sunday (Sept. 13) at 1 p.m.
