AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College seniors
Olivia Ferrer Saura and
Marie Santacroce and sophomore
Linn Weber were selected to the 2015 Academic All-Peach Belt Conference Women's Golf Team, released Friday afternoon by conference officials.
For Santacroce, this is her third consecutive academic all-conference selection. This is the second time Ferrer has earned recognition and it was Weber's first time. Flagler's only other recipient of the academic all-conference award was Leslie Choucard in 2012.
To be eligible for the all-academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and is either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference sports information directors oversee and select the teams.
Ferrer Saura holds a 3.36 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and is majoring in business administration at Flagler. The Irun, Spain-native is averaging 77.72 strokes per round and has had a pair of top 10 finishes this season. Ferrer Saura finished in a tie for 16
th place at the Flagler Fall Slam with a 10-over par 154. She shot a season-low round of 72 in the second round of the Lady Moccasin Classic. Ferrer Saura is a two-time PBC President's Honor Roll Bronze Scholar.
Santacroce has a 3.49 cume GPA in business. The Mattituck, New York native is third on the team with a 76.30 strokes per round and is sixth in the conference in that category. Santacroce has three top five and five top 10 finishes this year. She finished second at the Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational with a 1-over par 145 and finished third at the Saint Leo Invitational with a 3-over 147. Santacroce was selected as the PBC Golfer of the Week on Oct. 23. She is a three-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll scholar.
Weber holds a 3.49 cume GPA in business. The Neu-Isenburg, Germany native is second on the team with a 75.85 strokes per round average and is fifth in the conference in the same category. Weber has a pair of top five finishes and three top 10 finishes this season. She had the top score, a 73, in the dual match against Gustavus Adolphus College and finished fifth at the World Golf Invitational with a 3-over 147.
The women's golf team will play in the Peach Belt Conference Championship next weekend (April 17-19) at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, South Carolina.
