Mason scores 1,000th point on “Senior Day” in 84-65 win

ST. AUGUSTINE – Treva Mason became the sixth player in the history of the Flagler College women's basketball program to reach the 1,000-point milestone and she helped the Saints on "Senior Day" to an 84-65 win over the University of Montevallo Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.

Flagler snapped its four-game losing streak and improved to 8-17 overall and 5-13 in the Peach Pelt Conference. Montevallo lost its 19th game in a row and fell to 1-24 overall and 0-18 in conference play.

The Saints opened the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back. Flagler held a 40-22 lead at the half.

Mason scored her 1,000th point with 3:48 left to go in the game. She needed just nine points to score 1,000 in her career. She grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

DeAsha Campbell scored a team-high 15 points and added five assists while Teosha Ray tacked on 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Rodnecia Brown contributed nine points and five assists as she and Mason were honored before the game as Flagler's two seniors. Alex Alford chipped in with eight points and a game-high six assists.

The Saints had one of their best shooting performances of the season with a 47% (31-66) outing. Flagler sank 52.9% (18-34) alone in the second half. The Saints out-scored the Falcons 32-14 in the paint and forced 25 turnovers which led to 21 points.

Jasmine Thomas scored a game-high 16 points coming off the bench for Montevallo. She made 6 of 8 from the field. Carrington Caise and Jacquelyn Thompson each tallied 15 points. Katherine Goldsby chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.

Flagler wraps up its season on Wednesday (Feb. 25) against Armstrong State University at 5:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
