GREENWOOD, S.C. – Lander University rode a 54.1% shooting performance in the first half to a sizeable halftime lead on its way to an 87-63 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Finis Horne Arena.
Lander won its fourth game in a row and improved to 21-4 overall and 14-2 in the Peach Belt. With the win, the Lady Bearcats clinched the division title. Flagler lost its third consecutive game and dropped to 7-16 overall and 4-12 in conference play.
Breshay Johnson came off the bench to lead all scorers with 25 points and also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for Lander. Ty'hesha Reynolds added 15 points and six rebounds while Bre Crum tallied 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and to steals. Aarika Judge added 13 points in a reserve role.
The Lady Bearcats made 20 of 37 shots from the floor in the first half in route to a 50-26 lead at the half. Lander out-rebounded Flagler 53-39.
Treva Mason led Flagler with 14 points and she grabbed six rebounds coming off the bench.
Tiffany Hodge added eight points and corralled a team-best 10 boards.
Allie Mano tallied eight points and a game-high five steals.
Flagler was held to 31.9% (23-72) shooting from the field in the game. The Saints missed all 15 of their three-point shots.
Flagler plays host to the University of North Carolina Pembroke on Wednesday (Feb. 18) at 5:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
