AUGUSTA, Ga. – A cold shooting night and too many turnovers did in Flagler College in a 67-52 loss at Georgia Regents University Augusta in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.

GRU Augusta snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 6-16 overall and 5-10 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 7-15 overall and 4-11 in conference play.

Kariel Hutt had a big night for the Jags. She scored 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field and grabbed 15 rebounds. Hutt also blocked two shots. Joshlyn Belcher tacked on 15 points, all coming on three-pointers. Kayla Roberts tallied eight points and four steals.

GRU Augusta held Flagler to 36.7% (18-49) shooting from the field and forced 15 turnovers and scored 20 points as a result. The Jaguars made 54.2% (13-24) of their shots in the second half while the Saints struggled at 32% (8-25).

DeAsha Campbell scored a team-high 12 points and added three assists. She made 6 of 9 free throw attempts. Treva Mason added 11 points and eight rebounds, but was plagued with early foul trouble. Teosha Ray tacked on eight points and collected nine rebounds.
 
Flagler grabbed eight offensive rebounds and turned those into 11 points.

After Mason's layup with 12:36 to go to give Flagler a 13-12 lead, GRU Augusta went on a 13-0 run over the next 6:09 to take control of the game. The Saints missed seven shots in that span.

A three-pointer by Allie Mano and a basket by Campbell trimmed the deficit to six, 28-22, going into the halftime break.

The Jags built up a 16-point lead midway through the second half, but the Saints would not go away. Campbell made the first of two free throw attempts and that sparked a 6-0 run capped by a steal and layup by Mano to get Flagler to within four (51-47) with 3:25 left.

But GRU Augusta took advantage of a couple costly Flagler turnovers and made three baskets, two of which were three-pointers, to sprint ahead by 12 (59-47).

Flagler will spend Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) on the road at Lander University for a 1:30 p.m. tip-off.
