YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. –
Keith Gray tied his season-high with 16 points and nine rebounds as Flagler College lost its third road game in a row, 84-71, Saturday afternoon against Young Harris College in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game at the YHC Basketball Arena.
Young Harris won its second game in a row, and its third win in its last four games, to improve to 4-7 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
A 5-0 spurt by the Mountain Lions, with the help of a free throw by Marcellus Roberts, two free throws by Ben Waterhouse and a basket by J.B. Charles, built an eight-point lead (37-29) late in the first half. Young Harris would take a 47-37 lead into the break.
The Mountain Lions made 50% (18-36) of their shots from the field in the opening half and cashed in five Flagler turnovers for 11 points.
After a Gray layup closed the deficit to five (42-37) in the second half, Young Harris answered with a 12-2 run. Marques McKoy scored five of those points in the 3:51 run.
C.J. Wilson scored 18 points and dished out nine assists for the Mountain Lions. Waterhouse also tallied 18 points and added five assists. J.B. Charles tacked on 15 points while McKoy recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Roberts came off the bench to notch a double-double with 13 and 10 rebounds.
Gray was a perfect 8-for-8 from the line.
Matt Clark tallied 14 points for the Saints while
Keshaun Hamilton added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Ben Bobbitt contributed 12 points, four assists and three steals.
The Saints shot 33.3% (13-39) from the field in the first half.
Young Harris forced 13 Flagler turnovers and converted those into 22 points.
Flagler will break for the holidays and return to action on Jan. 2 at Lander University.
