WINGATE, N.C. – The Flagler College men's cross country team finished in eighth place at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday morning at Wingate University.
Flagler's
Andrew Smith and
Dillon Hodge both earned their first all-region honors this morning. Smith finished in 14
th place with a 10K time of 33:47.0, which is a personal best. Hodge finished in 23
rd place with a time of 34:22.4.
The three teams advancing to Joplin, Missouri are: the University of Mount Olive, Mars Hill University and Queens University of Charlotte. The top three individuals moving on to national are: Mathew Biwott of Young Harris College, Nick Del Guercio of Augusta University and Joel Lagat of Barton College.
Topping the 160-man field was Alex Griggs of Mars Hill who posted a time of 32:33.4. He finished just ahead of Jimmy Hollingsworth of Queens who finished with a time of 32:35.9.
Anthony Colasanti finished in 67
th place with a time of 36:24.2 while
Anthony Coraluzzo was not far behind with a time of 36:28.7 which was good for a 71
st place finish.
Andrew Merritt rounded out Flagler's point scorers with a time of 37:16.4 and an 94
th place finish.
Sam Mack posted a time of 37:54.1 and
Will Weaver recorded a time of 38:09.2.
