Megan Hooks and
Jenea Reddick combined for 27 of Flagler College's 54 kills and each had three total blocks in a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-18) win over Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extended its win streak to five matches and improved to 18-5 overall and 11-3 in the Peach Belt. Flagler also raised its home record to 10-2. Augusta has lost five of its last six matches to drop to 14-12 overall and 5-10 in conference play.
Hooks led the attack with a match-high 14 kills while Reddick recorded a career-high 13 kills and hit .357.
Tara Savisky notched her 11
th double-double of the season with 45 assists and 15 digs and
Caitlyn Kovach collected a team-high 20 digs.
Sara Davis added nine kills, six digs and three service aces while
Shea Hamilton contributed with nine kills and nine digs.
Kalia Baptiste led Augusta with 11 kills and Sadie Thurston tallied 36 assists. Kali Boatwright collected a match-high 27 digs.
Flagler fell behind early in the first set and trailed by as many as 10 points (16-6) before storming back to tie the score at 23-all after a kill by Davis. But Davis had back-to-back hitting errors which allowed Augusta to take the first set, 25-23.
In the second set, the Saints used a 7-1 run to pull out to a 17-8 lead. Reddick's kill was Flagler's 17
th point and forced Augusta to call a timeout. The Saints rolled to a 25-17 win. Reddick had four kills in that set and hit .571.
The Saints had little trouble in the third set as they compiled a .387 hitting percentage. Hooks and Hamilton each had four kills while
Jailene Torres-Lopez added three kills and hit .750 with a pair of total blocks.
The fourth set saw four ties and four lead changes. A pair hitting errors by the Jaguars gave Flagler the lead for good at 12-10. That ignited a 6-1 run by the Saints in route to winning the set 25-18. Reddick and Hooks each had four kills for the Saints. Savanna Gonzales had four kills for the Jaguars on eight errorless swings.
Flagler hits the road for its last road trip of the regular season next weekend. The Saints open with their longest road trip of the season, at the University of Montevallo, on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. Central.
