ST. AUGUSTINE –
Lydell Manigo led five Flagler College players in double figures with a game-high 22 points in a 99-51 rout of Clearwater Christian College in a non-conference men's basketball game Friday evening at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler has won five of its last six season openers. The game was an exhibition for Clearwater Christian, a member of the National Christian College Athletics Association.
The Saints opened the game on a 25-4 run and never looked back.
Manigo sank 9 of his 11 shots from the field and made all four 3-point attempts.
De'Aires Tate recorded a double-double with 16 points and he grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Matt Clark came off the bench to add 14 points and six assists while
Dennis Diaz chipped in with 13 points and five assists.
Jerrell Oxendine tacked on 10 points.
Desmond Gibson blocked five shots and added eight points as well as nine rebounds.
Flagler shot 54.1% (40-74) from the field in the game and drained 13 three-pointers. The Saints also out-rebounded the Cougars 58-22 and held a 46-10 advantage in points in the paint.
Caleb Winfrey led Clearwater Christian with 15 points, all of which came on five 3-pointers. Chevy Davis tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Eddie Moralobo dished out a game-high nine assists.
The Cougars sank 10 of their 26 three-point attempts (38.5%).
Flagler is back on the court tomorrow (Nov. 23) at 12:30 p.m. against Florida College at Flagler Gymnasium.
