ATLANTA, Ga. – Flagler College's
DeAsha Campbell scored a team-high 10 points and added four rebounds to go along with two steals in a 102-44 loss to NCAA Division I Georgia Tech in a women's basketball exhibition game Sunday afternoon at McCamish Pavilion.
After a
Kat Ortolani jumper gave Flagler a 4-2 lead with 18:19 left in the half, Georgia Tech countered with a 23-6 run to pull away.
Kaela Davis led six Yellow Jackets in double-figures with a game-high 27 points. She made 8-of-14 from the field and made all seven free throw attempts. Davis also sank four 3-pointers as well as grabbing six rebounds. Zaire O'Neil recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Aaliyah Whiteside added 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Katarina Vuckovic also tallied 11 points while Sydney Wallace and Antonia Peterson each contributed 10 points.
Georgia Tech made 54.2% (39-72) of its shots from the field, including 11 3-pointers. The Yellow Jackets also sank 86.7% (13-15) of their free throw attempts. Georgia Tech out-rebounded Flagler 51-29 and forced 25 turnovers.
Like Campbell, Flagler's
Ditara Pack made her debut and she tallied eight points. Ortolani tacked on seven points. Preseason All-Peach Belt Conference selection
Treva Mason got into foul trouble, but came away with five points, five rebounds and three steals.
The Saints will open the 2014-15 season officially on Nov. 14 at the Spartan Challenge Tournament in Tampa, Florida. Flagler opens with the host school, University of Tampa, at 2 p.m. at the Bob Martinez Athletic Center.
