ST. AUGUSTINE – Jean Vega scored a pair of goals to help Flagler College snap a five-match losing streak and take down Nova Southeastern University 3-1 in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday night at Saints Field.

Flagler improved to 6-8-1 overall while Nova Southeastern dropped its third consecutive match and fell to 5-6-1.

The Saints scored the first goal when Erlend Lofsgaard's free kick into the box was headed by Triston Hall to the left post where Jackie Kay flicked the ball into the net in the 14th minute.

Nearly three and one-half minutes later, Vega scored the first of his two goals when he headed in a cross from Hall who passed it in from the left side of the penalty box.

In the 58th minute, Juan Membreno threaded a pass into the box where Vega was there to touch the ball into the bottom right corner to give the Saints a commanding 3-0 lead.

Victor Cardoso converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute for the lone tally for the Sharks.

Lex Craggs tallied four saves for the Saints while Andrea Giombetti recorded two saves in the first half for the Sharks. Jo Jien Lee played in the second half for Nova Southeastern, but did not record a save.

The Sharks out-shot the Saints 16-15. Flagler out-shot Nova Southeastern in the first half 12-4. The Saints held an 11-4 edge in corner kicks.

Flagler plays host to the University of North Georgia, the last regular season Peach Belt Conference match for the Saints, on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 3:30 p.m. at Saints Field. Prior to the match, Flagler will honor its four seniors.
