Taja Valmyr led the way for Flagler College as she recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a match-high 12 kills and 10 digs in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-22) sweep of Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Sunday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
Flagler extended its winning streak to three matches, as the Saints swept all three matches this weekend, and improved to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in the Peach Belt. Francis Marion fell to 6-14 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
Sara Davis and
Genel Sturgeon each added seven kills while Sturgeon tacked on four block assists.
Caitlyn Kovach paced the defense with 14 digs while
Amelia Morgan tallied 25 assists and had three kills.
Ashley Cheewah recorded eight total blocks, which ties her season-high.
Megan Hooks recorded four total blocks.
Alexzandra Reed led the Patriots with eight kills and seven digs. Jessica Amador collected a match-high 15 digs. Sloane Shank tallied 19 assists and eight digs.
Today's match was the regular season home finale for the Saints. During the second intermission, Flagler honored its 2009 final four team.
Flagler will close out its regular season with five road matches and one neutral site match. The road swing starts Friday (Oct. 24) at Columbus State University.
