ST. AUGUSTINE –
Taja Valmyr recorded a season-high 17 kills and added seven digs as Flagler College fought off a stubborn Georgia College side 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-22) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 10-12 overall and 5-7 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College fell to 7-13 overall and 2-10 in conference play.
Valmyr hit an impressive .419 as she had just four errors on 31 swings.
Sara Davis added 11 kills and had only three errors on 20 swings to finish with a .400 hitting percentage. Davis also added three block assists.
Caitlyn Kovach paced the defense with a match-high 14 digs while
Amelia Morgan tallied 43 assists.
Ashley Cheewah and
Genel Sturgeon each chipped in with eight kills.
The Saints recorded their second consecutive .300+ hitting percentage for a match. Today, Flagler hit .304 with 50 kills and 16 errors on 112 swings.
Maggie Roper added led the Bobcats with 11 kills, five digs and three block assists. Blake Willoughby added eight kills and two block assists. Ella Anastasiades collected 10 digs while Mollie Michel tallied 30 assists.
Flagler closes out the home portion of its regular season tomorrow (Oct. 19) at 2 p.m. During the intermission after the second set, Flagler will recognize the five-year anniversary of the 2009 final four team.
