Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Montevallo men blank Flagler, 3-0

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Steven Didik's goal three minutes into the game would be all the offense the University of Montevallo would need in a 3-0 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Saturday night at Varsity Field.

Montevallo improved to 5-3-3 overall and evened its Peach Belt record at 2-2-2. Flagler falls to 5-5-1 overall and 3-4-0 in conference play.

Didik's goal came 2:55 into the match and was assisted by Jeffrey Hessenberger and Kyle Stuller.

The Falcons extended the lead to 2-0 after Kevin Francis found the back of the net in the 34th minute.

The Saints had an opportunity to get on the board in the 70th minute with a penalty kick, but Falcon keeper Yannic Horn was up to the task and saved the shot.

Montevallo added a late goal, by Josh Keller (87') from Hessenberger.

Horn tallied seven saves and recorded his fourth shutout of the season for Montevallo. Lex Craggs collected eight saves for Flagler.

The Falcons out-shot the Saints 16-13 and held a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Flagler will have to re-group quickly as it faces the University of West Florida tomorrow (Oct. 12) at 6 p.m. (Central) in a non-conference tilt.
