DAYTONA BEACH  – After a one-hour delay due to frost, the No. 17 (Golf World/WGCA College Women's Coaches top 25) Flagler College women's golf team finished in third place at the 10-team SMSU Spring Invitational which concluded Tuesday (Mar. 15) afternoon at the LPGA International Legends Course (par: 72; 6,098 yards). Flagler shot 315 and shaved six strokes off of its total from yesterday to finish with a 636.

No. 3 Lynn took home the team trophy with a 610 as it shot a tournament-best 295 today. The Fighting Knights won by 11 strokes over No. 7 Barry. Division I-member Indiana State University carded a 645.

Ellen Chambers won medalist honors, in the 69-woman field, with a 6-over par 150. She won by two strokes over Louise Manalo of Lynn and Marie Santacroce of Flagler.

Santacroce recorded her second top 5 finish of the year and she finished with an 8-over 152. Olivia Ferrer tied for 13th place with a 24-over 158. Stephanie Tucker tied for 17th place with a 16-over 160 and Danielle Welker, playing as an individual, finished in 30th place with a 24-over 168. Megan McCracken and Nicole Keyser rounded out the team scorers for Flagler. McCracken tied for 34th place with a 270over 171 while Keyser tied for 39th place with a 30-over 174.  

Flagler will participate in the U.S. Women's Invitational Apr. 8-9 at Charlotte, N.C.
