ST. AUGUSTINE – Zach Shanahan received Jonny Cosgrove's flick and fired home the game-winning shot in the 105th minute in Flagler College's season opening 3-2 double overtime win Saturday night at Saints Field.

Shanahan scored the first goal of the match between the two nationally ranked teams, Flagler at No. 5 and Coker at No. 18 (NSCAA Division II Preseason Poll), when he took a pass from Jonny Cosgrove near the goal box and shed a defender to blast home a shot in the 37th minute.

Marco Padilla gave the Saints a 2-0 advantage when he converted on a penalty kick. Flagler scored both goals despite being a man down as Joseph Toby was sent off with a red card in the 22nd minute.

Undaunted the Cobras took full advantage of being a man up when Noah Lascell had a free kick inside the 18-yard box after Bissell was issued a yellow card. Lascell found a space in Flagler's wall in front of the goal to get Coker on the board in the 71st minute.

A shade over eight minutes later, the equalizer came when Niko Tirkkonen headed in a cross from Tyler Staub.

The score would hold at 2-all through regulation and the first overtime session.

Bissell showed toughness in between the pipes in the first overtime session with three big saves. He finished with five saves.

James Sweeney recorded two saves for the Cobras.

Flagler out-shot Coker 15-11, but the Cobras held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. There 35 fouls whistled in the game with 21 going Coker's way. 

Flagler will face another nationally ranked opponent in No. 20 Rollins College on Monday (Sept. 3) at 7 p.m. at Saints Field.
