No. 27 Flagler fell to No. 3 Barry Friday afternoon.

No. 3 Barry defeats No. 27 Flagler, 5-0

Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 3 (Campbell's/ITA Division II Top 25) Barry University triumphed over No. 27 Flagler College 5-0 in a non-conference men's tennis match Friday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.

Barry improved to 15-2 overall while Flagler fell to 5-10.

The Buccaneers set the tone early by winning all three doubles matches. Daniel Schmidt and Fabian Groetsch defeated Jose Martinez and Stephan Stolz 8-1 at No. 1. The 13th-ranked tandem of Marco Mokrzycki and Leo Vivas held off Peter Coulis and Adam Hunt 8-5 at No. 2. Romain Costamagna and Ollie Lemaitre downed Uriel Oquendo and Inigo Landaluce 8-4.

Juan Martin defeated Oquendo at No. 6 singles after Oquendo retired in the second set down 2-1. Groetsch, ranked No. 27, defeated Coulis, ranked 48th, in straight sets 6-2 and 6-4. 

Flagler hosts 10th-ranked Francis Marion University on Sunday (Apr. 1) at 11 a.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
