AUGUSTA, Ga. – No. 8 (Campbell's/ITA Division II Rankings) Columbus State University blanked No. 10 Flagler College 6-0 in a Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship semifinal match Saturday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.
Columbus State improved to 16-4 while Flagler dropped to 11-6.
The No. 13 ranked doubles team of Loriane Favoretto and Madeline Johnson won 8-6 over
Lauren Pfeiffer (Fort Pierce, Fla., Florida Gulf Coast Univ.) and
Rachel Gould (Toronto, Ontario, Vaughan Road Academy). Tracy Castillo and Olivera Jokic downed
Veronica Figueroa (Orlando, Fla., Cypress Creek HS) and
Jennifer Saviano (Davie, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas HS) 8-6. Renata Paiva and Andrea Redrado triumphed 8-0 over
Deon Miller (Miami, Fla., Dr. Michael Krop HS) and
Gabby Scammacca (Sugarloaf Key, Fla. , Key West HS).
No. 35 Favoretto won by identical 6-4 scores over Figueroa at No.2 singles. Jokic and Paiva won in straight sets at Nos. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Flagler will see if it qualifies for an at-large bid in one of the two upcoming NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournaments.
