Marco Padilla (Bradenton, Fla., Lakewood Ranch HS) scored the golden goal in the 93rd minute to send No. 19 (NSCAA Division II Top 25) Flagler College to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship with a 3-2 overtime win over Clayton State University Friday night at Blanchard Woods Park.
Flagler will face the No. 2 seed, University of Montevallo, in the conference final at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 6). This is a re-match of last year's conference final where Montevallo defeated Flagler 2-1. The last time these two teams met, they played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw in St. Augustine on Sept. 9. The all-time series is 2-2-1. Flagler is 0-1-1 in Peach Belt Conference Tournament finals.
Flagler, the No. 1 seed, extended its unbeaten streak to 10 matches and improved to 14-3-2 overall. Clayton State, the No. 5 seed, wrapped up its season with a 10-8-0 record.
Padilla's goal was scored from the left side of the box just 2:16 into the first overtime session.
Pol Berenguer (Barcelona, Spain, St. Augustine (Fla.) HS) assisted on the play.
Kevin Keenan (Portlaoise, Ireland, CBS Portlaoise), a first-team all-Peach Belt defender, put the Saints on the board when he converted a penalty kick in the 18th minute. Clayton State Sam Bevan was issued a straight red card for his infraction and left the Lakers down a man for the remainder of the match.
That did not deter the Clayton State side as Ryan Pugh headed in a deflected free kick from Janny Rivera to tie the match at 1-all in the 43rd minute.
Clayton State took a 2-1 lead when Matty Phillips drilled home a shot from the top of the 18 in the 53rd minute.

Joseph Toby (Jacksonville, Fla. (Freetown, Sierra Leone), Wolfson HS) scored the equalizer when he headed in a rebound of his own shot, which hit the cross bar, in the 76th minute.
The Saints peppered Laker keeper Brian Garcia with three shots in succession, all within 12 seconds of each other, but all were saved.
Camp Bissell (Orlando, Fla., Timber Creek HS) tallied six saves for the Saints while Garcia recorded nine for the Lakers.
Flagler out-shot Clayton State 25-17 and held a 12-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Saints took 11 corner kicks while the Lakers took four.
