Box Score Boxscore

HARTSVILLE, S.C. − Zach Shanahan (Waterford, Ireland/Waterford Institute of Technology) scored the lone goal of the game, 1:45 into the first overtime, to help lead No. 22 (NSCAA Division II Top 25) Flagler College to a slim 1-0 win over Coker College in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at the Coker Soccer Field.

Flagler raised its record to 5-1 while Coker fell to 4-2-2.

Shanahan scored from just inside the penalty box, but was the recipient of a great through ball by Will Frandsen (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) to set up the opportunity.

Matt Gilman (Ocala, Fla./Jacksonville U.) recorded his fourth shutout of the season, and saved the only shot on goal from the Cobras. James Sweeney record three saves for Coker.

Flagler out-shot Coker 19-4 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Saints were whistled for 14 fouls while the Cobras were caught five times.

Flagler steps back into conference play on Sept. 25 at No. 12 Clayton State University.

NOTE: The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its Division II Top 25 poll this afternoon. Peach Belt members Montevallo (No. 6), Clayton State (No. 12) and Flagler (No. 22) are in the current poll.
