FLORENCE, S.C. – No. 4 (ITA Division II) Francis Marion University defeated No. 23 Flagler College 7-2 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Kassab Courts.

Francis Marion improved to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the Peach Belt while Flagler fell to 10-4 overall and 5-3 in the league.

The Patriots opened by taking two-of-the-three doubles matches.Flagler avoided the sweep when Chelsea Taylor (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep) and Rachel Gould (Toronto, Ontario/Vaughan Road Acdemy) handily defeated Kerry Hall and Karine Augur 8-1.

Taylor supplied Flagler's lone point in singles play with a 6-1 and 6-1 win over Augur at No. 6 singles. Deon Miller (Miami, Fla./Dr. Michael Krop HS) gave Hall all she could handle at No. 5 singles, but lost 6-3, 6-7 (8-10) and 10-8.

Flagler concludes its road trip with a match tomorrow (Mar. 28) at UNC Pembroke at 10 a.m.
