JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Flagler College Director of Athletics Jud Damon and former Oakland Raider star running back Pete Banaszak were guests at the Navy League's reception honoring the 2009 Coast Guard Sailors of the Year.

Damon and Banaszak helped honor: MK3 Carlos Lopes on being named 2009 Guardian of the Year for the Coast Guard cutter, Kingfisher; EM2 John Melvin on being selected as the 2009 Guardian of the Year for the USCG Aids to Navigation Team, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and Captain Andy Blomme, USCG. He is the Commander of USCG's Sector Jacksonville (from King's Bay, Georgia to Port Canaveral, Fla.) as well as Captain of the Port of Jacksonville (responsible for all seaborne traffic in/out of Jacksonville.)
