Stella Jelinek of the women's golf team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 12.
The Leimen, Germany native helped lead Flagler College to its first NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance as she finished in a tie for second place with a 3-under par 213. Her score, score relative to par, and her placement were all program records for a regional. Jelinek carded a 4-under 68 in the first round and followed that up with a 2-under 70 in the second round. She shot a 3-over 75 in the final round.
In 10 tournaments this year, Jelinek has nine top 10s, eight top-fives, and she has won four tournaments. She leads the team with a 71.54 strokes per round average and has played 17 rounds below par.
