Destiny McClendon of the women's basketball team was selected as the Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Holiday Inn Express for the month of January.

McClendon was selected as the athlete of the week ending Jan. 8.

(From the Jan. 8 release) The junior guard led Flagler with a 23.0 points per game in average last week. She made 16-of-18 free throw attempts and shot 44.8 percent from the field. The Greensboro, Georgia native scored 29 points in a loss at Georgia Southwestern State University last Wednesday. She scored 14 of those points in the first quarter. McClendon added 17 more points in a 69-66 loss to the University of North Georgia last Saturday.
