Luisa Hrda of the women’s tennis team was named Athlete of the Month, sponsored by St. Augustine Inn, for the month of May.
Hrda was named player of the week on May 2 and 9.
(From the May 2 release) Hrda posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament as she helped lead No. 11 Flagler College to the tournament final. For her efforts, the Aschaffenburg, Germany native was named the tourney's most valuable player in singles and doubles, with teammate Eden Schlagenhauf. Hrda is ranked No. 5 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and is half of the No. 8-ranked doubles team.
(From the May 9 release) Hrda posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region No. 2 as she helped lead No. 11 Flagler College to its first NCAA Division II National Championship berth. The Aschaffenburg, Germany native clinched the match for the Saints on Saturday with her 7-5, 6-2 win over Newberry College's Zulay Castaneda, who was ranked No. 18. Hrda is No. 5 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national singles rankings. She is one-half of the No. 8 doubles team in the country.
