Luisa Hrda, of the Flagler College women's tennis team, was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week following the period ending Oct. 3.
The junior from Aschaffenburg, Germany won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Southeast Regional, which concluded last Monday at Sumter, South Carolina. She went a perfect 6-0 in singles play and won each match in straight sets, including the final, a 6-3 and 7-6(3) win over Ana Carla Resende of Carson-Newman University. Hrda is the first Flagler tennis player, men's of women's, to win the regional title in the NCAA Division II era. Also, Hrda advanced to the quarterfinal round in doubles play with teammate Ebba Rosberg.Â
This fall, Hrda is 9-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles.Â
