Mauro Baez, of the Flagler College men's golf team, was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week following the period ending Sept. 26.
The senior from Posadas, Argentina had a career-best performance with a 12-under par 204, which was good for a third-place finish at the 11th annual Jay Jennison Cup. His 204 ranks as the third-best 54-hole score in the history of the program and his score relative to par (-12) ranks second all-time. Baez turned in a final round 6-under 66, which tied his for the lowest round in the final 18 in the history of the tournament. He recorded 14 birdies and had one eagle.
Baez leads the Peach Belt Conference in strokes per round (68.0) and is tied for the lowest round of the season, in the league, with his 66. Â
