Luisa Hrda of the women's tennis team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending May 2.
Hrda was a perfect 2-0 at No. 1 singles and at No. 1 doubles to help Flagler capture its first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title in women's tennis. The sophomore from Aschaffenburg, Germany teamed with Amelie Vossgaetter to defeat the No. 8-ranked tandem of Beatriz Lopez and Candice Paya, 7-5. Later, Hrda, ranked No. 31 nationally in singles, defeated No. 9-ranked Lopez (2-6, 6-2, 6-3) to win the match for the Saints, 4-3. It was Flagler's first win over Columbus State University in 19 tries.Â
For the season, Hrda is 12-3 in singles and is undefeated in seven matches at No. 1. She is 5-1 in doubles when paired with Vossgaetter.Â
