Sara Sandberg of the women's soccer team was named as the Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Sleep Inn, for the month of September.
She was selected as the athlete of the week on Sept. 22.
(from her player of the week release) Sandberg had another big week as she scored three goals, including two game-winners, and added a pair of assists to help keep No. 14 Flagler undefeated. Her goal in the 54th minute against Florida Southern started a cavalcade of goals, four in just under five minutes, in a 5-0 win. She assisted on two goals in that match. In the showdown with No. 19 Rollins, she scored the game-winner in the 79th minute to break a 2-all tie. Sandberg leads the league in goals, assists, points, and game-winning goals. She has been selected the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week twice this season.
