Kara McKissack of the women's basketball team was selected as the Sizzlin' Saint award recipient, sponsored by Applebee's, for the month of December.
"Kara has unfortunately been plagued with injuries throughout her time at Flagler," said head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery. "During the summer she learned that she needed to have another surgery, this time to repair her shoulder. Despite the devastating news that she would once again miss more games, in particularly for her senior year, she has remained steadfast and optimistic. She is a leader for our team behind the scenes while continuously rehabbing to return to the court to help her team this season. I would also like to add that Kara achieved a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester. So she has shown that through adversity you can still reach your potential. I’m hoping that she is cleared in the upcoming weeks so that she has the opportunity to play the sport she loves before she graduates."
