Raquel Kulak of the volleyball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Aug. 26.
Kulak tied for the team-lead with 41 kills (2.93/set) and hit a team-high .319 with just 11 errors on 94 swings. She racked up 15 total blocks to lead the team. The Melbourne, Florida native recorded a career-high 18 kills, hit .359 and four total blocks and a five-set loss to Saint Leo University, a regional semifinalist last year. Kulak added 10 kills and a red-hot .450 hitting percentage against Findlay, another regional semifinalist from last season. She recorded five total blocks against No. 3 Minnesota Duluth.
Kulak leads the PBC in solo blocks (6), is third in total blocks, fourth in blocks per set and kills, and fifth in kills per set.
