Taja Valmyr of the volleyball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 22.

This is the second time this fall she has received the weekly honor (Sept. 17).

Valmyr recorded her team-leading 10th double-double of the season after she recorded 19 kills and 14 digs in a five-set win over Georgia College last Saturday. The Green Cove Springs, Florida native became the 10th Flagler player to record 1,000 kills in her career with her spike in the second set to give the Saints a 19-13 lead. Valmyr led the Saints in the fifth and deciding set with five kills and she hit a red-hot .500 with only one error on eight swings. She had nine kills in the second set alone.

Valmyr leads the Peach Belt Conference in kills per set (3.73) and fourth in kills (246).
