Andrew Smith of the men's indoor track team was selected as the January Athlete of the Month.

Smith was the athlete of the week Jan. 24.

Smith won the mile run (Collegiate Division) at the Emory Crossplex Invitational with a school record time of 4:15.46. He won the race by nearly three seconds and bested Cory Mundy's school record of 4:17.13 set last year. Smith trailed the leader until the final 200 meters where he made his kick and made the move past the leader for the win. His time in the mile is the 12th fastest of the season in Division II
