Matt Gilman of the men's soccer team has been selected as the Student-Athlete of the Week sponsored by TraveLynx, the official bus company of Flagler athletics, for the period ending Sept. 5.
Gilman played a pivotal role in Flagler winning both matches of the inaugural Michael Shope Memorial Tournament at Lees-McRae College. In the opener against No. 2-ranked Lees-McRae, he tallied four saves to preserve the first shutout of the season. Last Saturday, he made a sprawling save early in the second half, the only one he had to make, to keep King College out of the net in a 1-0 Flagler win.
Gilman, through two matches, has played in all 180 minutes with five saves and two shutouts.
