Bill Schlegel and his spouse have chosen to retire in the area, finding joy in attending and supporting the high-level college sports showcased by Flagler Athletics. Originally from Troy, NY, Bill Schlegel's roots in a vibrant and historical city provide a backdrop to his journey and experiences.Their connection is driven by a genuine love for the games and the vibrant sports community at Flagler. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Lehigh University, Bill Schlegel built a distinguished career at Alcan Aluminum, contributing his skills to engineering, technology, and management. His professional journey reflects a commitment to excellence and innovation.

Bill's favorite thing about Flagler Athletics is the personal interaction with the teams, particularly in tennis, where he can truly get to know the players. The athletes' gratitude for fan support speaks volumes about their coaching and character, creating a positive and impactful environment.

Outside of his involvement with Flagler Athletics, Bill enjoys playing tennis several days a week at the Atlantic Beach and Tennis Club. This hobby not only aligns with his love for sports but also contributes to an active and healthy lifestyle. 

Bill Schlegel's athletic prowess extends beyond the college arena, having played football at Lehigh and being drafted by the Memphis Southmen in the World Football League. 
He achieved the remarkable status of a 2-year All-American and ECAC Scholar Athlete during his college football career, showcasing both athletic skill and academic excellence.

Bill's international experience includes working in Korea, where he earned the honorary citizenship of Ulsan. The mayor of the city bestowed upon him a gold key to the city, recognizing his contributions and impact
