Sam Boatner

Sam Boatner begins her third season as an assistant coach at her alma mater Flagler College.

In 2012, she was part of the NFCA Southeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year.

Boatner, a 2010 graduate with a degree in sport management, played two seasons (2009-10) for the Saints. She posted a career record of 11-11 in the circle for Flagler and recorded a 2.14 earned run average. In 183 innings pitched, she struck out 161 batters. Boatner made 41 appearances with 22 starts, 13 complete games and five saves (school record). She ranks second all-time at Flagler in lowest ERA, most strike outs per seven innings pitched (6.16), complete games, shutouts (2) and strike outs. She also batted .276 with 51 hits, 25 runs scored, seven doubles and 26 runs batted in. When she wasn’t pitching, Boatner was the designated player or played second base or spent time in the outfield.

Boatner tossed 13 complete games in Flagler’s inaugural season (2009). Her 159 innings pitched that season ranks third as does her 143 strikeouts. Boatner earned second-team all-Independent honors in 2009. She had her senior season cut short due to injury. Boatner was the first pitcher to toss a pitch for the Saints and won the inaugural game at Florida Tech (Feb. 1). In that game, she hit Flagler’s first-ever double and drove in the first run.

Boatner, an Auburndale, Fla.-native, came to Flagler from Polk Community College in Winter Haven, Fla.
