Tim King enters his fourth season as the defensive coordinator.

He came to Flagler after spending six years coaching at the junior college level and six years coaching in the Sunshine State Conference (NCAA Division II).

King was hired on January 30, 2017, for his second run as CCBC Essex coach, a junior college in Baltimore, Maryland, but this time as the Knights’ head men’s lacrosse coach. He has been a proud CCBC Essex student-athlete and coaching alumni over the past 30 years. “Helping young men transition into the next phase of life and face new challenges, has been the greatest experience for me as a coach,” said King.

As head coach, King and the Knights went 22-18 over three seasons. It’s highest accolade was being ranked  No. 3 in the country during the 2019 season after an upset win over Genesee CC.

He began his collegiate coaching career with the Knights, alongside Brian Duncan and then Shawn Burke (2008-2010), serving as defensive coordinator and recruited student-athletes from Maryland, as far west as Colorado, north into Pennsylvania and New York, and south in Virginia, and also Ohio and Illinois. His efforts and tutelage led to two NJCAA Region XX titles (2009-2010), a national runner-up finish ( 2010), development of 10 all-region and six NJCAA All-Americans over three seasons at CCBC Essex.

King served as the head assistant coach at Florida Institute of Technology (NCAA Division II), in Melbourne, from 2012-2016, and served as defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, as well as overseeing face-offs and the team’s transition game. In 2015, the Panthers won 241-of-395 face-offs (.610), a school record, second in the SSC, and ninth in the nation.

Prior to Florida Tech, King was the head assistant coach and defensive coordinator for Florida Southern College (NCAA Division II) from 2010-2012. The team went 18-13 (.581) and reached the Deep South Conference Championship during his two seasons on staff there. His head coach, Marty Ward, received SSC Coach of the Year in just his first season of coaching.

In addition to his college experience, King has spent time as a head coach and assistant coach for the Chesapeake Rock Lacrosse Club’s U16, U17, and U18 premier teams (2007-2010) and was the offensive coordinator at Friend’s School in Baltimore from 2007-2008.

King helped to start the Brine National Lacrosse Classic as it’s national director – high school boy’s division, where he also served as the head coach for the Maryland Preparatory School varsity high school team from 2010-2011 and again in 2019, where the team won the high school national title in both years.

To begin his college career, King attended Essex CC. As a midfielder with the Knights (1988-1989), he helped lead the team to consecutive NJCAA Region XX titles, as well as NJCAA men’s lacrosse championship appearances in both seasons. He earned All-NJCAA Region XX honors and was a team captain.

After CCBC Essex, King transferred to and played lacrosse at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) from 1991-92. The team reached the heights of being ranked No. 13 in the nation. They beat a University of Maryland team that was ranked No. 2 at the time. He earned his bachelor’s degree at UMBC in 1993
