Brad Sain was named the director of sports medicine on Dec. 10, 2021.
Sain spent the previous 14 years as the head athletic trainer at Byrnes High in Duncan, South Carolina. He served as the manager of a district-wide sports medicine department that was comprised of 40 Class 5A teams and over 1,000 student-athletes. His main responsibility was to coordinate sports medicine needs of all district schools. Sain supervised full-time training staff and student trainers for their day-to-day tasks as well as practice and gameday coverage.
Prior to his time at Byrnes High, he served as an assistant athletic trainer at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. While with the Cardinal, Sain worked with the football, soccer, tennis, golf, gymnastics, swimming and diving, and lacrosse teams. He also assisted with the Carolina Courage of the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) in 2003.Â
Sain received his bachelor’s in exercise and sports science from the University of North Carolina, where he was a student trainer, and earned his master’s in kinesiology from San Jose State University. He is NATA-BOC certified (2004) and South Carolina DHEC certified (2007).
