Coaching at Flagler
Jonas Piibor was named the fourth head coach of the men's tennis program on Aug. 3, 2021.

In 2024-25, Piibor led the Saints to their second consecutive Peach Belt Conference regular and post season titles with a 20-3 overall record and an unblemished 5-0 mark in league play. He was named the PBC Coach of the Year for the third time. In the ITA Division II national rankings, the Saints peaked at No. 2 for three weeks and finished at No. 4. Three Saints finished in the ITA singles rankings - Simon Malis (No. 33), Aniss Rafiq (No. 42), and Baptiste Mercier (No. 45). In doubles, Borlee and Malis finished at No. 21 while Rafiq and Malis were No. 22. On five separate occasions, four Saints earned PBC Player of the Week. Piibor guided Malis to PBC Player of the Year honors as well as three players earning all-conference honors and two doubles team also receiving all-conference nods. Mercier capped off his career being named ITA Southeast Region Senior Player of the Year. Malis went on to be named ITA Southeast Region Player to Watch.

The 2023-24 season saw Piibor lead the Saints to the NCAA D2 National Championship, their best finish in program history. With an overall record of 22-3 and a perfect 5-0 PBC record, the Saints finished their year off being ranked No. 3 in the final ITA poll. In the last ITA poll of the year, Baptiste Mercier was ranked No. 12 and Jacopo Denitto was ranked No. 14. In doubles, the team of Philipp Lemken and Simon Mallis were ranked No. 32 while Ilian Borlee and Mercier were ranked No. 46. Piibor coached his first ITA All-Americans in Mercier and Denitto. Mercier became the second player in program history to earn PBC Player of the Year while Simon Malis became the second consecutive Saint to earn PBC Freshman of the Year. Along with Piibor earning PBC Coach of the Year, the Saints earned two all-conference first team players in singles and three on the second team. In doubles, two duo pairs earned first team all-conference.

In 2022-23, Piibor guided the Saints back to the NCAA D2 National Tournament. Flagler advanced to the elite eight and finished the year with a 19-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Peach Belt Conference. The Saints were ranked No. 7 in the final ITA poll. Nikita Tatyanin was ranked No. 28 and Jacopo Denitto was ranked No. 71 in the last singles ranking. The doubles team of Jagger Ong-Patzwald and Tatyanin were ranked No. 41. Three singles players earned all-conference honors while the tandem of Ong-Patzwald and Tatyanin was named to the all-conference second team. Pavlos Parson earned PBC Freshman of the Year honors, the first player in the program's history to receive the honor since joining the league in 2009-10. Three Saints earned academic all-conference honors.  

In his first season at Flagler, Piibor coached the team to its first NCAA Division II National Championship, advancing all the way to the national semifinals. The Saints won the Peach Belt Conference regular season title for the first time and was named the PBC Coach of the Year. He coached three players to all-conference honors in singles and two doubles teams to all-conference accolades. During the 2022 season, Flagler defeated its first top-ranked opponent in Columbus State University (April 19). The Saints closed out the year ranked No. 4 by the ITA, the program's highest final ranking in the NCAA Division II era. Flagler also won the ITA Southeast Region Community Service Award.

Prior to Flagler
Piibor served as the head men's tennis coach at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington for three seasons (2018-21). He made an immediate impact at Gonzaga. In his first year, the Bulldogs posted a program-record 16 dual-match wins and a second place finish in the highly competitive West Coast Conference (WCC). Before COVID hit in 2020, Piibor coached the Zags to a 10-4 record, the program’s best start through 14 matches. The program reached a No. 62 ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

His tennis teams also excelled in the classroom with three consecutive ITA All-Academic Team honors and 23 tennis players have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades. Seven more received WCC All-Academic honors and five players took home All-WCC recognition.

The Gonzaga team was a presence in the community as they dedicated 191.5 hours of service in 2019-20 with seven different agencies.

Prior to his time at Gonzaga, Piibor served 10 seasons as the associate head coach at Pacific-12 Conference member Oregon. He helped coach the Ducks to their most successful stretch in 30 years with a 153-96 record. Oregon finished with at least 15 wins in each of the last seven seasons in which Piibor was on the staff. The team in 2017 set a program record for the best national ranking (No. 24) at the end of a season. He helped coach the Ducks to four NCAA postseason appearances, which included three advancements to the Round of 32.    

He started his coaching career at his alma mater, Indiana State University. The first two seasons, Piibor served as an assistant coach and he took over as its head coach for the 2005-06 season.

Piibor played three seasons at Indiana State and one year at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He played on four NCAA Division I Tournament teams and was the only Indiana State men’s tennis player to compete in two tournament appearances. Piibor was a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference first team selection and was the ITA Region V Senior Player of the Year in 2001. He was a three-time first team MVC Scholar Athlete (1999-2001). Piibor was the MVC No. 1 singles champion in 2001 and the No. 2 champion in 1999 and 2000. He was one half of the No. 1 doubles champions in '99 and '00. Piibor was also named to the Missouri Valley's All-Centennial Team in 2007.

Personal
He graduated from Indiana State with a bachelor’s degree in fitness and exercise science in 2002, and earned his master’s from ISU in adult fitness in 2005.
