Nicki Hicks began her first season as the co-head cheerleading coach at Flagler College for the 2011-2012 season; now she enters her sixth season, and her second as the head coach.Â
During that time, Coach Hicks and Coach Villacci have taken the Flagler Cheerleading team to NCA Nationals twice (during the most recent 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons), as well as competed every year in the Peach Belt Conference Spirit Competition.
Working part-time as Flagler's head cheerleading coach, Hicks spends the rest of her time running her own small business (specializing in web marketing for other small businesses).Â
She spent the 2009-2010 season as the assistant cheerleading coach at her alma mater, Saint Joseph's College of Maine; then going on to serve as its head coach for 2010-11. She also served as the assistant coach at St. Joe's in 2009-10. Hicks coached the team to a JAMfest national title in the All-Girls Collegiate Division in 2011.Â
A 2008 cum laude graduate of St. Joe's, Hicks was a member of the cheerleading squad from 2004-2008. She earned her bachelor's in business administration with a concentration in marketing and advertising. Hicks served as a captain for her squad from 2005-08 and was its president for her final two years on the team. She was the vice president as a freshman. As a senior, she earned the team's Academic and Coaches' Awards.Â
Prior to St. Joe's, Hicks was a cheerleader at Maranacook Community High School in Readfield, Maine. She captained the squad from 2002-2003.
