Aguirre begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Flagler baseball program.
He came to Flagler (2015) after spending one season at his high school alma mater, Troy (Mich.) High School, where he served as the assistant varsity coach in the spring of 2015. He helped head coach Tim Mullen throughout the season as well as supervising the off-season four-man training workouts.
Prior to his stint at Troy High, Aguirre played three seasons at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. He helped lead the Lakers to two NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament appearances (2009 and 2011). Aguirre was a two-time all-regional tournament and an all-GLIAC tournament team selection. He recorded the fifth-highest batting average, .436, in the history of the program.
Before Grand Valley State, Aguirre spent his freshman year at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron, Michigan.
Aguirre earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Grand Valley State in 2013.
Aguirre's grandfather, Hank, pitched 16 years in the Major Leagues with the Cleveland Indians (1955-57), the Detroit Tigers (1958-67), the Los Angeles Dodgers (1968) and the Chicago Cubs (1969-70).
