Cory Domel starts his first season as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Flagler College.
Domel comes to Flagler College after spending the past two seasons as the pitching coach at the University of Maine in Orono. He spent this past summer as the pitching coach of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots who are members of the highly regarded Alaska Baseball League.
In Domel’s first season as the pitching coach of the Black Bears, he helped a young staff of seven freshman and sophomores to 35 wins, an America East Conference Tournament Championship and a berth in the Chapel Hill Regional. Prior to Maine, Domel served as the head coach at the College of Lake County located in Grayslake, Ill., for the 2005 season. He led the Lancers to a 30-20 record and a sectional title. For the three years prior to his head coaching stint at Lake County, he was the team’s pitching coach. Altogether, in his four years at Lake County, the Lancers posted a 164-63 record, two pitchers earned All-America honors, two were selected as conference MVP’s and seven pitchers received all-conference recognition.
Domel graduated from Western Illinois University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation, park and tourism administration. He played for the Leathernecks in 2000 and 2001. Domel also attended Lake County where he set numerous pitching records.
