  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Larkins joined the staff at Flagler College in August 2016 and works with infielders, assists with hitters, and will assume the role of first base coach.

Originally, from New Orleans, Louisiana, Bruce Larkins graduated from De La Salle High School in 1998.  After a standout senior season, he received several honors including all-district and All-State awards.  That earned him a scholarship to attend Enterprise State Junior College in Enterprise, Alabama. During his sophomore season he only committed six errors while playing in 50 games at shortstop.  After two years at ESJC, he then transferred to Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia, where he helped lead the Night Hawks to their first national recognition.  As a junior, Larkins hit .369 with 10 doubles and three home runs. After a brief stint with the Baton Rouge River Bats, an independent professional baseball team, he returned to Thomas University to serve as a student assistant until he graduated with his degree in Business Management.  Upon graduation, Coach Larkins moved to Lakeland, Florida and earned his teaching certificate in mathematics education.  Along with teaching for four years, he served as the head junior varsity/varsity assistant coach at Kathleen High School.

In 2007, Larkins made the jump to coach junior college baseball and was named the head assistant coach at Lake City (Florida) Community College.  Due to budget, LCCC decided to disband all athletic programs effective at the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Larkins was hired at Santa Fe College, in Gainesville, Florida, as its recruiting coordinator/ hitting and infield coach. Santa Fe saw the best year in the school’s history in 2009, winning the conference, state, and regional championships.  The Saints also finished as national runners-up.  During his five years at Santa Fe, approximately 50 players signed with four-year schools or signed professional contracts.  The Saints were also ranked in the Top 25 in each of those five years including the No. 1 ranking for most of 2011.

In August 2013, Larkins accepted the recruiting coordinator position at Pensacola (Florida) State College.  In three seasons at Pensacola State, he helped bring the Pirates back to state and national recognition.  They held a No. 5 ranking in the State and a No. 25 ranking with the NJCAA in the Spring of 2015.

Throughout his coaching career, Larkins’ players have enjoyed much success. He has coached three All-Americans, three conference players of the year, five Academic All-Americans, nine FCSAA all-state players, and 56 all-conference players. He coached four teams that went on to win conference championships and six teams that were ranked nationally. Larkins has seen 14 players drafted by Major League Baseball, three of which are currently playing in the National League (Braves, Brewers, Phillies) and one playing in the American League (Indians).
Larkins earned his bachelor’s degree from Thomas University in business management and his master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in the arts of teaching.

He resides in St. Augustine with his wife, Aleasha, and two sons, Tripp (8) and Braylon (4).
