NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Flagler College women's lacrosse team opens the year at No. 12 in the preseason Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 25 poll, which was released Monday afternoon.

Flagler was ranked No. 12 in last year's final poll.

The Saints posted a 13-6 overall record last year and finished with a perfect 4-0 mark in the Gulf South Conference. Flagler has won 16 consecutive regular season conference games and the last three regular and postseason GSC titles.

The defending national champion, University of Tampa, tops the poll. Adelphi University follows at No. 2 while Florida Southern College checks in at No. 3. West Chester University is No. 4 and the University of Indianapolis rounds out the top five.  

Other teams ranked nationally from the GSC are No. 20 Lander University and No. 25 The University of Alabama at Huntsville.

Flagler will take on seven teams that are ranked in the preseason poll. No. 10 Saints Leo University (Feb. 7), No. 24 Florida Tech (Feb. 13), No. 3 Florida Southern (Feb. 26), No. 11 Lynn University (March 7), No. 9 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (March 18), No. 20 Lander (March 28), and No. 25 UAH (April 18). The Saints host Florida Tech, Florida Southern, Lynn, Lander, and UAH.
